Mykonos Mayoral Election 2023 – Christos Veronis: "We know, we want, we can become Mykonos again and not Mykonos"

Christos Veronis: "We know, we want, we can become Mykonos again and not Mykonos"

Mykonos Mayoral Election 2023 – Christos Veronis / Mykonians have known this for years. I said it, Nevertheless, and in my interview with the "Free Press" so that the rest of the country will know about it: We know, we want and can become Mykonos again and not no Mykonos.
So simple, but also so clearly!

My interview with ET and Yiannis Apergis.
The candidate for mayor of Mykonos, Christos Veronis, sets priorities and is committed to definitive solutions to the water problem, of drainage, of cleanliness, but also of the strays.

Christos Veronis is anything but unknown to Mykonians. It has been, after all, mayor of the island from 1991 up to and including 2008 and he is again a candidate to restore the reputation of his place worldwide, as committed in an interview he gave to the "Free Press".

Mr. Veronis promises, also, Mykonos to regain its lost voice in the decision-making centers, emphasizing how he will claim, because "that's the only way you can win for your country". "We know, we want, we can become Mykonos again and not Mykonos", states characteristics. In this context, appears critical of outgoing mayor Konstantinos Koukas, to whom he attributes great responsibility for the "decline" of recent years.

Recent years, Mykonos is in the pan-Hellenic and global spotlight for the wrong reasons. Many are also talking about "State of Mykonos", associating the island with licentiousness and corruption. To what extent is this true and how can it be changed?;

You are not wrong. Unfortunately, our island has been experiencing a decline in recent years, which does not honor, but also not worthy of its inhabitants. Afrom Mykonos we became... no Mykonos, we lost our soul and our orientation, and this saddens me unimaginably as a person whose whole life is connected to this place.

The responsibility of the outgoing mayor is very great. Instead of solving pathogens, expanded them, instead of taking steps forward, following the leaps made during my own mayoralty, it took us backwards.

Nothing, Nevertheless, it is not unsolvable if there is a will to change the bad texts. With an organized promotion of our identity and a special campaign to restore the reputation of our island throughout the world, a lot can change. We will not allow the Mykonians to become strangers in our country.

We will restore security, calmness and smoothness. We will restore the reputation of our island in Panhellenic and worldwide and we will upgrade the quality of life of our citizens and tourists, with specifications that will meet the brand name of Mykonos, so that what we "sell" corresponds to what they will find when they come to our place.

Why are you so optimistic that you can reverse this negative image?;

Obviously I'm not a miracle worker either. I am, Nevertheless, an active citizen of the place I had the honor to serve as mayor on 18 consecutive years. I don't like to talk about the achievements of my tenure myself. They know it, after all, very well the Mykonian women and the Mykonians.

The needs of the election campaign compel me, however, to remind that almost all the important infrastructures of Mykonos have been created when I was mayor. That in itself it is a guarantee of the work I will do if re-elected.

We've had enough, Moreover, words in recent years from the outgoing mayor. My actions are the best guarantee that we both deserve and can do much more. I have, after all, a very strong team by my side.

If you don't have mature studies, you don't claim, as is the case today with tthe outgoing administration, you can't even win for your country. Mykonos must regain its lost voice in the decision-making centers. And he will find her, be sure of it.
