The treasure of Tatoi!! Rare wines and Chivas for the enthronement of Elizabeth [pics]

This is one large number of rare wines and alcoholic beverages, in bottles that are considered historical today and with collectible labels.
It is noted that these items are maintained by the Department of Conservation of Antiquities and Modern Monuments of the Ministry of Culture.

Another rare one, particular, treasure is revealed as work progresses to highlight the former royal estate of Tatoi. Among the thousands of objects, maintained by the Directorate for the Preservation of Ancient and Modern Monuments of the Ministry of Culture, includes a large number of rare wines and spirits, in bottles that are now considered historical items and with collectible labels.

As stated by the Minister of Culture and Sports Lina Mendoni, "The wine cellar of Tatoi, in addition to its significant collectible value, has extremely great scientific and research interest. The work of the promotion of p. royal estate is complex and requires specialized knowledge, in many different areas. For the evaluation of the wine cellar, we collaborate with expert scientists, who possess the know-how, both at the oenological level, as well as in everything,as to its historical documentation. our goal is, with the completion of the restoration and reuse project as a museum of the Palace building, the collection section, which at the discretion of experts may be exposed, to find its place in the existing space of the cellar of the Palace. The wine cellar of Tatoi, a historical collection, over fifty years, of particular cultural and wine value, will be visitable ".

The work of maintenance of the Tatoi wine cellar is in progress by the competent Service of the Ministry of Culture and Sports and is expected to reveal even more historical and oenological treasures. Already, in 235 boxes have been archived approximately 4000 bottles of wine and drinks, with labels of special value - artistic and historical -, even rare soft drink cans, which were not imported to Greece at that time. It is noted that some of the wines and alcoholic beverages are suitable for consumption, despite the problematic conditions, in which they were located. The work continues with the examination 300 still boxes, in order to assess the condition of the bottles.

Among the rare wines found in the collection, Château Margaux bottles are included, Château de Vincennes and Château Rothschild, as well as collectible beverage bottles, such as the special bottling of Chivas whiskey in a ceramic bottle on the occasion of the celebration of the enthronement of Queen Elizabeth of England. Alongside, there is a rich collection of bottles, with labels from the production of the estate itself.

Duties of a special consultant for the evaluation of the Tatoi wine cellar, has undertaken -pro bono- the winery ACHAIA KLAUS, with the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Culture and the company. Responsible on the part of the company is Periklis Baltas, Head of Archive History. ACHAIA KLAUS is the first Greek Winery, which was founded in 1861 and is active, uninterruptedly, until today. It is a modern winery, which also operates a complex Museum of Wine Art. The specialized executives of the company, provide their know-how and experience regarding the evaluation and promotion of the wine cellar. Specifically, have undertaken to evaluate the bottles of the estate and to separate them, depending on their rarity and condition, in high value products, due to rarity and oenological interest or suitable for exhibition.
