Fashion for Good: Handbook from Fashion for Good for biomaterials in the fashion industry

Organic, organic, biosynthetics are terms for so-called biomaterials that confuse not only clothing brands, the retailers, but also many consumers……….

That is why the Global Fashion for Good Sustainability Initiative, together with the platform for biomaterials and their manufacturers, Biofabricated, published a handbook specifically for the fashion industry that lists the various materials and analyzes how they are made, what they contain and how they differ.

This is the first comprehensive review of biomaterial technologies for fashion. Gathering basic knowledge and concepts from leading industry experts in both biotechnology and fashion, the report serves as a fundamental source for change and innovation throughout the supply chain, reports Fashion for Good.

The exhibition, entitled "Understanding the" bio "material. Innovations: a primer for the fashion industry ”includes interviews with more than 30 industry experts, who provide their knowledge of the bio-construction landscape.

The interviews cover topics such as the roadmap for commercialization, what makes a collaboration successful and how the future looks in this area.

Explains terms such as biomaterial, biodesign, biosynthesis, clarifies the differences of technologies with a set of diagrams and gives examples of how different materials are used that are widely used, such as synthetic materials, leather and cotton.

Biomaterials are already applied by the fashion industry, but until now we did not have the tools to understand them. As fashion and other industries collaborate with biotechnology, we must adopt a common language, along with collaborative tools for transparency, to develop the healthy ingredients we all seek, says Susan Lee, CEO of Biofabricate.
