Daisy Ridley is set to play Gertrude Enterle in an upcoming film titled "Young Woman and the Sea"………
The actress, who embodied Ray in the Star Wars Skywalker trilogy will be, according to Deadline, the protagonist in the Disney movie + which tells the story of the first woman to ever swim in the English Channel.
Joachim Ronning will direct the film based on the screenplay by Jeff Nathanson. The film will narrate the life and achievements of Gertrude Enterle, who was an American swimming Olympian and crossed the English Channel (distance 21 miles) at 6 August 1926, in 14 hours and 31 minutes.
Enterle was a competitive swimmer, won a gold medal at his Olympics 1924 and decided to try swimming in the canal, after going through 22 miles from Battery Park in New York at Sandy Hook in New Jersey. The record he broke was kept for 81 years.
The cast that will play Daisy Ridley has not been announced yet, nor has the release date of the film been confirmed.
