Fresh Bouquets and Arrangements

If you have an arrangement of fresh flowers made on a florist's sponge, as usual, all you have to do is add water daily. The sponge acts as a preservative that extends the life of your flowers. Place the composition in a cool place away from heat and drafts. Keep the composition in a cold place overnight.

Cut Flowers
4 basic steps to follow:
1. Cut the stems straight or diagonally using a flower cutter or a sharp knife. Do not use scissors. Cut stems in water that should be fresh clean and lukewarm (37-43ᵒ C). Garden flowers and tropicals should be cut in water temperature (27-36ᵒ C).

2. Transfer the flowers to a vase or container filled with water at the appropriate temperature. Remove the leaves that are below the surface of the water.

3. If you use special preservatives that extend the life of your flowers and fight bacteria that grow in the water, follow the packaging instructions closely. Add water to the container as needed and replenish the solutions every two days. If you don't use preservatives, change the water daily, soap the container and re-cut the flower stems.

4. Place the flowers in a cool place, especially at night. Keep them away from sources of heat and air (radiator, air condition).
